More than just a Garden…. 🌿JOIN US!
Southern Beaches Community Garden began in 2009 when a group of local residents came together with a shared vision: to create a place where people could grow food sustainably, share knowledge and build community.
Since then, this little patch of earth has grown into a thriving community of gardeners, volunteers and neighbours.
With around 122 garden plots and members from all walks of life, the garden is a place where beginners and experienced growers come together, where questions are welcomed and where everyone has something to share.
Because a garden is not only measured by what grows in the soil. It is also measured by the connections that grow between people.

Membership is an affordable way to support the garden, connect with the community and get involved.
A garden we all help grow
Southern Beaches Community Garden is a community-run space, which means membership is about more than tending your own patch.
Members are expected to take part in at least six communal working bees each year, helping to care for the garden's shared spaces. Members are also encouraged to lend a hand at garden fundraisers, market stalls and community events. If you're unable to attend scheduled working bees, alternative tasks can be arranged through the Membership Secretary.
Little gardeners are welcome too. Children can get involved in growing produce, planting seedlings and garden activities and helping at working bees.
Individual membership
$10 per year
Family membership
$20 per year
Includes at least one adult and any number of children. Adults aged 18 years and over have voting rights at General Meetings.
Organisation membership
$20 per year
One member of the organisation has voting rights at General Meetings.
Garden plots
Interested in growing your own?
Members can express their interest in having a garden plot. Plot availability varies, so joining the garden doesn't necessarily mean a plot will be available immediately.
Available plots are allocated to financial members based on the date of application and payment of membership fees. Active participation in the garden may also be considered when plots are allocated. If you're waiting for a plot, you can get involved in the communal plots in the meantime.
Once allocated a plot, members are responsible for planting and maintaining it, including keeping the plot and surrounding area reasonably weed-free.
You don’t need a plot to get involved…
There are plenty of ways to be part of the garden without having your own plot. You could join working bees, propagation, composting, garden maintenance, events, fundraising and other community activities.
